Trip to Senegal for the 11th class to set up the "JOKKO" space, a multipurpose room for education, training and sharing.
Marius and Gaëlle, teachers accompanying the social course.
This year for the social training course, the 11th class will go to Keur Massar in Senegal, from March 20 to April 7.
Keur Massar is a township located east of Dakar, the capital of Senegal, which has more than 17 million inhabitants of different ethnicities (96% Muslim and 4% Christian). Forty years ago, Dr. Yvette Pares, a French doctor, trained in traditional medicine with traditional practitioners from all ethnic groups and founded a leprosarium. Today, there is a day hospital, a pre-school and elementary school, a botanical garden, a laboratory, a pharmacy and a lodge.
We have the project to bring our help to the locals by meeting and sharing, and by the restoration of buildings within the traditional hospital and the elementary school, that is to say :
- organize activities for children, including drama and choir
- paint a mural on the school walls
- meet with students from a nearby school
- spending time in small groups with mothers and their children at the Maison Rose in Dakar, women who have experienced domestic violence
- to assist in the management of the botanical garden of medicinal plants
- participate in the creation of a plant transformation laboratory.
We have two months to raise the money we need.
- Every Wednesday at noon, we sell food in front of the school and soon we will be selling traditional Senegalese objects and arts and crafts that we have made ourselves.
- On January 27 and 28, during the presentations of the masterpieces, we will hold a stand of food and objects, which we create and come from Senegal.
- We are also organizing a cabaret evening on Thursday, March 9.
We have put online a Crowdfunding: https: //www.leetchi.com/fr/c/wpMX8v6M
- For those who prefer, they can transfer the money to the school's Postfinance account, with the mention "support stage 11e cl".
