As part of last year's 12th grade art specialization, students were asked to question the practice of drawing in the digital age. Each student was asked to create a work in which he or she invented a way of drawing using tools other than the traditional ones for this type of medium. Here is Johanna Oberson's proposal.
Johanna Oberson transforms herself into a graphic tool, drawing with her whole body. On a large sheet of paper, she draws a black line using her hair as a giant brush. Here, the practice of drawing is no longer devoted solely to the work of the hand, and the artist dispenses with the intermediary of an external tool. The body uses its particularities to inscribe its trace on paper. Drawing becomes performance, and the motif created forces the body to invent a precise choreography.
